Xi’an, China. Creative Director. A historical location filled with ancient history and terra cotta soldiers at attention was where the vision of a global entertainment project was developed. As creative director, I lead a team of the most prolific creatives in the business. We had the prestigious honor to design a concept focusing on the story of China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuang Di.
From the conceptual idea and design to the entire architectural design of this billion RMB project, I took the idea of theatrical performance to a new level of excellence. The building inside and out are in motion, immersing the audience and the city outside to witness a spectacular event. The 2,500 seats inside the theater are designed to engulf the captive audience with cinematic narrative, interactive performances and moving scenes that change the perspective and point of view continuously. This project brought together: Weta Workshop (NZ), Tim Yip (HK), 3deluxe (D), Moritz Waldemeyer (UK), Michael Curry (US), EDC (USA), and a production team headed by Jeff Stein.
